Zen for Film
Nam June Paik
USA 1962–1964 | 21 min | 16 mm | black&white
without dialogues
One of the most radical films ever: a blank film strip runs through the film projector. The viewer is watching only light and emptiness, from time to time emphasized with dirt or a scratch. This provocation, calming ritual and even pure film phenomenology doesn’t look like materially consistent work; more to the contrary is always changing like a musical composition. Nam June Paik (1932–2006) was the founder of video art.
Film is shown with the permission of Nam June Paik’s heritors.
