The technological progress in past years erases the boundaries between visual arts, theatre, video art and film. Filmmakers exhibit in galleries; visual artists show their work in cinemas. Art pieces that not that long ago belonged to closely limited circle of its own are now inspiring artists from both sides of imaginary boundary. Visual artists, experimental filmmakers and other artists are searching for unusual possibilities of film. Section Multikino presents eight movies, older and contemporary, that are testing the limits of the art of moving images. Selection of the movies accentuated the language and limitations of film. Individual artists represented in this section examine a field that can be called ontology of moving image. They are trying to find different ways in which the film or video is able to record movement, time or appearance of things. Especially attractive seems to be the analysis of film conventions, paradoxes of feature film or economic matter of cinema industry. All eight films represent various alternatives of traditional cinematography and are not short of intellectual depth or sense of humor. In a humorous way they work with the “paradox of art” proving that artistic performance is above all a carefully prepared and arranged structure.
