Experiment

The programme section of Czech experimental film consists of two dramaturgical selections. The wide field standing behind the term of audiovisual performance consists of activities bordering on abstract film, vj-ing, visual music and experimental film – these elements are represented in the section Divided image. All authors have common interest in the creation of interactive compositional systems that they are retouching during their realization. Selected videos are recorded life performances or studio sessions and represent unique structural system. They are projections-concerts which, same as film, require viewer’s orien­tation to the screen, but thanks to improvised realization bring ease of life performance into the image and sound, as well as immediate reactions of musicians to the image and vice versa. Second selection called Notes from travels presents seven movies and is divided into three sections. Selected experimental works are variations of travel journals and road movies. The road always provides almost ideal conditions for improvised shooting and spontaneous reactions of a filmmaker. These films not always show typical structure of a road movie, however, they always represent author’s specific individual imprint in film material.
