The kaleidoscopic scenes of the document have one idea in common: a question to what degree are basic human values conditioned by local economic and cultural environment and what differences can be found in the way we perceive such values, which the film presents in form of chapters (e.g. illness, happiness or loss); what is understood by these notions in different parts of the world and whether it is at all possible to compare e.g. the fear of a US soldier before going to fight to Iraq with the anxiety of a worker from a third world country, worried about losing his job.
